Jay Painter is an actor, director, improviser, comedian, musician, clown, mime, circus performer and all around Renaissance Man. He has taught classes and workshops in improvisation, physical theatre, Shakespeare, mask work, and acting at colleges, universities, schools, theatres, and performing arts centers across the country. An accomplished stage actor, Painter has performed in numerous Off-Broadway plays and national tours. His extensive work with the acclaimed Aquila Theatre Company includes Agamemnon (with Olympia Dukakis) and their celebrated productions of Comedy of Errors and The Iliad among more than a half dozen other shows. Other theatre credits include The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) national tour, Shakespeare Santa Barbara and work with various NYC theatre companies. Painter has made many appearances in television and film including Fringe (on FOX), Cupid (on ABC) and Wall Street 2, as well as several independent films, commercials and web series.
In 2002, Painter (along with Eric Robinson) co-founded Friday Night Face Off, Long Island's hit improv comedy show and is currently the co-owner/creative director of Face Off Unlimited, LLC. Painter hails from the mountains of West Virginia where he attended Shepherd University and Davis & Elkins College (graduating with honors) and studied with mime master Reid Gilbert. Since moving to NYC he has studied with The Second City, The PIT, Richard Kline (Larry from Three's Company) and many others. He is a proud member of Equity and SAG.
